cha haus shin kazuho chasen or matcha whisk are meticilously hand crafted in japan by tanimura tango, the head of the 20th generation of the tanimura family, who have mastered the secret production techniques passed down from their ancestors
each chasen is handmade and unique. made out of natural hachiku bamboo, this type of whisk has approximately 70 lightly curved tines, and it excels at creating very fine foam with fewer bubbles, leaving you with smooth and soothing matcha. the uncurled tips ensure they do not break easily
About Mr. Tango Tanimura
Tango Tanimura, born in 1964 in Takayama, Ikoma City, Nara Prefecture, belongs to the Tanimura family who have produced tea whisks for almost 500 years in the town.
Takayama has been the center of tea whisk manufacturing in Japan for more than five centuries. The Tanimura's are one of the only three remaining families today of the 13 tea whisk-making families that were granted surnames by the Tokugawa government during the Edo Period(1603-1867).
Visitors can watch Mr.Tanimura's fascinating ancient techniques with their own eyes and are welcome to try the last step of making a tea whisk.
